Mick comes from Dimbulah, a tiny town South West of Cairns, and grew up in the bush. Always tinkering with Motorcycles and cars, Mick was interested in mechanics from a young age although it would be later in life that he would put this interest to work. Starting out working in a Hardware store, Mick gained general knowledge of basic handyman things. Along the way, he also turned to mining where he worked, for a majority of his working career, as a loader operator in various underground mines including Mount Isa. Mick met his wife and settled permanently in Mount Isa in 2009 which is where he kicked off his formal mechanical career as a mature age Light Vehicle Apprentice. On completion of that, he moved to SMH to play with the bigger machines and underwent another apprenticeship as A Diesel Fitter. Micks love of engines and life experiences gives him good knowledge and understanding of the industry however, he always says ‘he never stops learning’. He has a great eye for detail and generally looks after the more fiddly and technical jobs.
